The End of Atlantis?

or a new beginning?

It seemed like the end of Atlantis.

At the end of our last lecture, we saw Atlantis, the Golden centre of the world and preserver of the High Feminine Tradition overrun by corruption, half-governed by cliques of mascûli, with the incursion of strange, mascûlic idols into the very temples of Our Mother God. We have seen how, for the first time in human history, deadly violence was turned by humans against their own kind and faithful priestesses who preached against the new cults were slain by mascûli. Finally we have seen how this violence spread across the European protectorates of the Atlantean Empire, creating a new rule of mascûlic idolatry and force.

It seemed like the end of Atlantis. It seemed like the end of the old Feminine Order - the Golden order of Thamë (or Themis) that had ruled and preserved the world, in its changing forms, since the beginning.

The precise history of the period is complex. There were revolutions and counter-revolutions, half-revolutions and compromises. But two factors dominated. One was the relatively old, but rapidly increasing one of the gathering materialisation (and consequent strengthening of the mascûlic principle) inherent in the later Kali Yuga. The other was a completely new factor in human affairs: violence. For the first time in history, political power grew not from Divine Authority, but at the point of a spear.

And because of the increasing effectiveness of mere physical force over the subtler means that had previously been predominant, mascûli had a huge, and crudely effective, advantage over femini.

Could anything be done to turn back the clock of this "historical progress"? Or was Atlantis lost and the world lost with it?

Let us turn our eyes to a small island off the coast of North Africa called Tritonia: the evening-isle. This island, though it lay between Atlantis and the great mainland of its far-reaching Eastern Empire, was not part of the Atlantean sphere of influence. It was inhabited by a people still formed on the pattern of Golden-Age humanity. They had no mascûli, but two feminine sexes, Chelani and Melini. They followed the Old Tradition in a manner more direct than that of the Schizomorphi.

They were called the a-mazei or Amazons, the unconfused or unforgetting ones. They were what we call, in more technical language, intemorphs: those whose two kinds, or sexes are both of the fundamental feminine order, rather than half of the masculine (which is one possible branching-off from Primordial Femininity along the stream of Vikhé).

For long, very long, the Amazons had been diminishing. They knew that the future of this world lay not with them, and wished only to live in peace, following the Old Way, an ever-receding remnant of the Golden World. (See our Amazon World History Timeline)

As corruption subtly spread among the Schizomorphi it became the policy of the Amazons to trade only with those Feminine Nations that remained pure both in their worship and their social order, and gradually these two became a minority in the world, though nowhere near as small a minority as the Amazons themselves.

The Amazons rarely interfered in the business of the Schizomorphi. They considered them none of their affair. In any case, the Great Atlantean Empire was shepherdess of that flock.

With Atlantis lost to Truth and Order, the Amazons of Tritonia found themselves increasingly isolated. And with the increasing violence of the world, their melini armed themselves to defend the island if need be.

On a few occasions in the next century, small mascûlic raiding parties attacked the island. But the Amazon melini were not shizomorphic femini, even though they resembled them. Their strength was greater than that of any mascûli and their skill and determination in defending their small homeland were phenomenal. No patriarchal pirate ever returned from an attack on Tritonia.

Over time faithful maids of the Schizomorphi, who were in danger of death at the hands of the renegade mascûli sought sanctuary in Tritonia, which was always granted. They were given their own lands where they built dwellings and temples after their fashion, though their settlements were kept separate from those of the Amazons.

At one time a petty "king" demanded the return of his "subjects", which the Queen of Tritonia refused. The "king" sent a small fleet to attack the island which was narrowly defeated by the Amazons. From that time forward, Tritonia devoted much of its resources to building its Navy, for the possibility of a future defeat was unthinkable.

And then Myrine was born. Myrine was a princess of Tritonia. Her melinic mother was Queen of the island nation, and her chelanic mother came from another Amazon nation far to the east.

She was born under the Star of Sai Vikhë and on the day her chelanic mother bore her, her melinic mother saw a melinic wolf (for some of the animals were yet intemorphic on that isle) make a leap across a great river, far longer than any wolf could normally leap. And for this reason, the child was called Myrine - the Leaper or Bounding-one.

This child was to turn the tide of history for centuries to come.
